Tucked into the rolling hills of Rancho Peñasquitos, this single-story ranch home is built for the way you actually want to vacation in San Diego — slowly, sunny, and spread out. You'll wake up to light pouring through big picture windows, sip coffee on a paver patio shaded by a wood pergola, and end the day around the backyard fire pit as the hills turn gold.
The space
Nearly 1,900 square feet, all on one level (no stairs anywhere in the main home). The open living and dining rooms flow out to the backyard through sliding glass doors, so indoor-outdoor living is the default, not an upgrade. The kitchen is bright and skylit, with a butcher-block island, gas range, dishwasher, and everything you need to actually cook — pots and pans, a blender, rice maker, coffee maker, baking sheets.

Primary bedroom — Queen bed, smart TV, dedicated desk and ergonomic massage chair for remote-work days, infrared sauna, ensuite-adjacent access to a double-vanity bathroom

The backyard
This is where guests spend most of their time. There's a full outdoor lounge with seating for eight, a dining table for six, a gas patio heater for cool evenings, a fire pit with Adirondack chairs, and a stretch of green turf perfect for kids, or a morning yoga mat. Mature palms, agaves, and a backdrop of open hills make it feel more private than suburban.
What's included
Fast WiFi throughout (mesh network), smart TVs with streaming, in-unit washer and dryer, hair dryer, iron, linens and extra blankets, first-aid kit, Pack 'n Play for little ones, and driveway parking for up to three cars plus free street parking.
The location
Rancho Peñasquitos is one of San Diego's best-kept secrets — quiet, leafy, and central.

20 min to Legoland and Carlsbad
20 min to Balboa Park, Little Italy, and downtown San Diego
10 min to UTC and Sorrento Valley (great for business travelers)
5 min to hiking in Los Peñasquitos Canyon Preserve
Grocery, coffee, and good takeout are all within a few minutes. You're close to everything, but come home to calm.
A few house notes
This is a single-family home on a residential street, so we ask guests to keep things mellow at night — no parties or events. The home has solar, so please use the thermostat for AC and the provided space heaters for warmth (they work great). The washer and dryer are in the garage, which the owner uses for personal storage (no car parking) — we'll point you to what's yours to use and what to leave be. There's one exterior security camera facing the driveway for everyone's peace of mind.
